WHY IT MATTERS
New approach to Big Box store expansion into urban neighborhoods.
CGS3 represented the owner of a neighborhood grocery store in the lease of its property to Target so it can open an urban format of the Big Box store, Target Express, in an up-and-coming San Diego neighborhood.
The store is designed to meet the diverse needs of a neighborhood that doesn’t have a major supermarket or drug store within walking distance and represents a new trend in development for major retailers.
The store will convert an old Safeway-turned-Gala Foods into a downsized version of the Big Box retailer, offering an array of convenience items, home essentials, electronics and groceries tailored to the community.
