SAN DIEGO (Sept. 19, 2019) – Crosbie Gliner Schiffman Southard & Swanson LLP (CGS3), a San Diego-based commercial real estate law firm, announced today the addition of its newest partner, Marjorie J. Burchett.  Previously a partner with Withers Bergman LLP, she joins CGS3’s mixed use, distressed assets and finance practice groups and will be based in the firm’s San Diego offices.

According to CGS3 founding partner Sean Southard, Burchett is another testament to the firm’s enduring commitment to attracting best-in-class lawyers. “Marjorie is an outstanding real estate attorney who specializes in handling complex transactions across all asset classes. She is especially skilled at working with mixed use, urban infill, master planned communities and condominium developments – all areas in which we are experiencing robust growth,” Southard said. “She also brings a wealth of expertise in finance on both the borrower and lender sides.”

Burchett has worked with major residential, resort, commercial, mixed use and master planned developments projects over the past 30 years.  Her clients include individuals, corporate investors and developers, lenders, receivers and private equity investors – for many of whom she has also acted as national counsel. She has a special interest in title insurance matters.

Burchett began her legal career in the real estate group Luce Forward Hamilton & Scripps, where she became a partner.  She continued as a partner when Luce merged with McKenna Long & Aldridge, and when McKenna merged with Dentons US LLP.

Like most CGS3 lawyers, Burchett is active in the community serving on multiple boards and committees, among them the YMCA San Diego Camps Board of Management, Facilities/Capital Committee and Real Estate Task Force; the San Diego and California Building Industry Association, DRE Committees; San Diego County Bar Association, Real Property Law Section and Bar Foundation,  the Downtown San Diego Partnership, Board of Directors and Co-Chair of Women of the Partnership; and Lawyers Club San Diego.  She also contributes her time each summer to Rancho Genesis, a camp for orphans in Ensenada, Mexico.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from the University of California, San Diego and earned her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of Law.

Burchett brings the total attorney headcount of CGS3 to 24 plus seven paralegals.
